The Sound of a Cardinal

As a young boy
a youthful thing
comes upon me
and I
pause
While cold masks the warmth
I wonder
To be one with the wind
let it lead
though not consume
A flicker of hope
a cardinal feather
burning, echoing
from afar
a gentle flame within my heart
As the robin
flies around
the light
in front of me
It comes from the sky,
seeks home in a tree
As it represents life
and all that it could be
Where we would not need to worry
of yesterday’s dawn
but only tomorrow’s
memory
If love had a chance
it would be this
melody

Norrel, I love this poem and the way you have developed it with the images with Cardinal feather, then Robin flying around. Also the feeling of flicker of hope, and no need to worry. I like how you wrapped it all up at the end. Well done.
