To my year 7 self

To the year 7 girl who tried to be perfect,
But never was.

To the year 7 girl that cried herself to sleep every night,
Thinking how she needs to make her mother happy tomorrow.

Crushing in the burden,
The tears burning in her eyes.

To the year 7 girl who prayed she wouldn’t wake up,
It would be better to have no daughter than an imperfect one.

I’m sorry I was unkind to you,
I’m sorry I never spoke up.

I’m sorry I never wiped your tears.

I’m sorry that I never let you be happy, without the burden of her expectations.

I’m sorry no one noticed us drowning,
Every. Single. Day.

I’m sorry no one saved us.

I’m sorry.
