Disturbing Untold Story

I heard a story today, it felt just like mine,
In this scary, monster city, it made my heart pine.
Someone hurt themselves, tore their own skin, you see.
Yes, a story just like mine, it came right back to me.
You are brave, so much braver than I.
You told your hurt out loud, under the open sky.
My pain, I keep it hidden, in a locked-up room inside,
And a piece of me dies slowly, with nowhere to hide.
How can they break the good things they helped to grow?
It's better to just kill me, and let my blood flow.
How can they meet their own daughter, when she's all alone in the dark?
I heard a story today, it felt just like mine,
In this scary, monster city, it made my heart pine.
Someone hurt themselves, tore their own skin, you see.
My friends talk of fathers, of love, warm and kind.
Then they ask about mine, what stories I find.
But how can I tell them?
About a love that's a secret, a hurt I can't show,
A love that's forbidden, a pain I can't let them know.
A monster father's love, something so wrong.
Hands that should teach small steps, where I belong,
Instead made my feel cold between my legs, on a freezing day.
Hands that should gently touch, and softly play,
Gave me a "love" that took my voice away.
I heard a story today, it felt just like mine,
In this scary, monster city, it made my heart pine.
Someone hurt themselves, tore their own skin, you see.
Yes, a story just like mine, it came right back to me.
