Home

They say Home is where the heart is
But my heart lays with you
Forever as if it always knew
That the cure to my illness was to stay around
Forcing me to understand just how
So I sit and think of what we are now
We used to be everything and nothing
All in one
But now your name doesn’t pop up when I hear my phone ring
And I can’t help but wonder
What if I didn’t run
What if I stayed where I was lying in the sun
The what ifs hurt more then knives on skin
When I think of you I think of when
The past in which we were
Crumpled into a timelapsed blur
The pitch of your voice soothed my soul
All I see is from me which you stole
Laughter once emanated from my body deep
Now shallow coughs are all I reep
Smiles danced across my face
Now I can’t seem to find their trace
Of who I was so long ago
But I want you to know
That once you were my home sweet home
The love that once found you down to my bone
Seems to have run cold
Turned to hatred I fear
For I never want you near
So they say home is where the heart is
But my heart has been gone for awhile
Killed by all the hurt it has compiled
