Who am I without You, witnessing Me

Does every child break their mothers heart? Or is it just for us?
The infrequent visits leaves gaps and years apart
Newly bought towels and sheet sets. Neatly folded and folded again with love and care.
Placed lovingly and rearranged in time of wait.
Anticipation. That’s were the love shows, too big to express.

The dreaming, planning and expectations built up.
The wistful longings of Christmas's together, that could have been but never was.
The laughter and running after grandkids in endless summer days, tired of their long visits, that didn’t come through.
The places never visited, the activities that never came to be.
The hope to share each others day. The trials and the tribulations.

The words never spoken, the love barely confessed. The heartache and the sadness never expressed.

My childhood was filled with joy, love and magic. My love is deep and true. My days lived without you, yet you are so so close.
Leaving wasn’t about you.

The life we didn’t live is a whisper and eco in my days. The roads we didn’t go and the paths we didn’t take.

They are speaking to me today load and clear
In one of them we would go hand in hand and share everything
We would share it all
