Teddy Bear

I smelled of lavenders when she first held me,
With her tiny hands and smile of a dove.
I became her best friend,
She would meet me day and night,
Feed me and put me to sleep.

I watched her grow into a woman,
She doesn't visit me so often now,
Only at nights as I lay there on the bed, hungry all day.
When she comes she doesn't sleep,
She weeps into my fur, wetting it with her tears,
The stains dry but her grief doesn't,
And I would carry it like her best friend.

Then she says,
About her heartbreaks and lost hopes,
She tears a part of her heart and pumps it into me,
I look at it, her heart, and see how she is still the kid I met once.
I look closer and reach places no one has gone before,
And I thought I was looking at a mirror,
It was me.

I pondered how much I am of her,
I am her,
The little child she lost
