Weight of Silence

A storm coils behind my eyes
its fingers pressing into every thought
breathing feels like wading through thick smoke
my chest a cage I cannot unlock

The world moves on without me
laughter echoes from rooms I cannot enter
even my own voice sounds foreign
hollowed out by shadows I carry

Sleep is no refuge
just an endless corridor of whispers
morning arrives cold and sharp
reminding me that I am still here

Thoughts twist like knives in my skull
hope feels like a lie I tell myself to survive
yet somehow my heart beats in the dark
a stubborn drum I cannot silence
