To the moon and back
If you ever doubt the words that fall from my lips,
The ones that sting, the ones that bruise, the ones that slip.
Know I’ll write your worth across the stars,
Carve your name on Neptune, let Jupiter linger in your scars.
I’ll tell you I love you, even when it’s wrong,
I’ll make it real, make it first,
some call me Neil Armstrong, he may be the first to touch the moon,
but I will be first to tell you I love you, morning, night, and noon.
I’ll paint your beauty on Mercury, the closest to the sun,
Let its light blaze bright as I whisper, “You’re still the one.”
I’ll make the stars burn brighter than they’ve ever shone,
Mark your name across the galaxy, so you’ll never be alone.
The one in my dreams, the galaxy’s farthest reach,
The brightest, wildest star, the lesson love will teach.
I’ll paint you on Earth, in space, in the heart I guard where your fingers continue to trace.
So if you doubt the words I tremble to say,
Just know I’ve painted you across the Milky Way.
