Isolationism

Strangers sneak by my sidewalk air
Trying hard to dodge any stare
Rolling their bubble around mine
Keeping distance by breaking line

So sad is this solitude, but to say so is rude
To let them know you're not a number is crude
Yes, any emotion shown strips us full blown nude
And to talk with any interest is only to intrude

Two pass by holding hands with smiles worn
Yet the expressions seem so forlorn
I don't quite get their reasoning; I hate but love it
Their blissfully ignorant joy revolts, yet makes me covet

They keep perfectly prepared yet still scared
Like the shame game they play is their master
Everything shared is a trap ensnared
So instant gratification comes faster

I want to be equal, but the more I find the less I like
I can't give respect or dominion to a lie-laden Reich
It is right to fight, for I want people to show their light
I wish this game of "don't know, don't care" would leave my sight
