Combustion Cycle

The morning dew is shaping my existence

Cold doesn’t describe the darkness of this place

The streets here aren’t lined with gold

Creating new wounds, pouring salt into the old

Eat me, rip me open and apart

You’re like watching a vulture working hard to perfect his art

If we burst into flames, it’s to reshape our existence

I can go it alone while you worship resistance

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

I like the last line of resiliance 'I can...'. The character sounds so distressed and hurt with the words you used - especially 'Eat me, rip me open and apart'. These short words really jab and express her pain. That's why her decision to take a stand is uplifting. Thanks for your poem.
