My Muse

My muse
Am I just another experience to you?
My beloved beauty, of divine grace
My soul, my heart, my mind, everything
All yours
You were everything to me
My waking breath, my longing gaze, my revering sighs
All worshipping sonnets I create describing the beams of sunlit hope you bring to my dreary sombre castle
Cowering away from those dreadful beings that pry me open with their interfering stares
As your sunlight sets, I try to grasp at your dying rays
To keep them in my jars forevermore
To hear your voice as sweet as honey lull me to a peaceful dream
Your gentle skin, that blemished me, graze me softly
Something I long for, crave for, just out of my clasp
My maniacal fascination with you only healed by the scrolls of ballads I write
Through twilight to dawn I sit by the window, awaiting your return
Writing as if it’ll bring you back
Knowing it will not
I am nothing but a wistful fool who has fallen for an unreachable lily among the thorns
