True Love

I thought I was terrified of being alone,
until I realised it’s more frightening to close my eyes and not catch a glimpse of you—
the tiny arc of your lips only I see,
the salty secrets you whisper in my willing ear,
the rose tint warming my cheeks when your fingertips meet mine.

My heartbeat invites your tenor to sing with my soprano.

I place us in a box where our souls tango and tease.
I once longed to fall into an abyss—now I exist in eternal bliss.

I close the door on past sorrow.
These moments must not fade like dandelion dust.
I tore down my walls, certain our love is true.

My foes’ eyes turn emerald at the amber glow in my gaze.
The moon’s mellow voice hums as your skin tingles against mine.

Wild and breathless, we explore each other again.
I startle the stars with giddiness—
they’ve never seen me so light.

I want us to dance forever with flowers beneath my feet.
If this is a dream, don’t wake me.
I love how we mimic movie scenes.

Dear Sabrina, This is such a passionate and romantic poem, i really love the last line especially. To not want to wake up from a dream because it feels so real and too good to be true is just a feeling i also have experienced when deeply engrossed in romance. Youv also used elements of nature, personifying poetically in a way that makes your poem stand out in an ethereal manner! Absolutely loved this take! Definitely a fave for me it is! Thank you for joining my contest!Sending you light, always! Congratulations on your first place win in my contest
