2 Am

Let's switch places, you and me.
Sit in the dark and you will see
where you thought I was, I was not.
Now what have you got?
Widened pupils and empty hands.
I won't tell you where to stand.

Insomnia, scratch 'til you bleed.
A thousand pages you could read.
Close both eyes, relive the day.
Watch it all in shades of gray.
Can't stand the sound of your own sigh.
Minutes of life pass you by.
Where you thought you'd be, you will never.
The time you've lost is gone forever.

Let's switch places, you walk the mile.
Weight on your shoulders, all the while.
Paste a smile across your face.
You'd rather be in another place.
Look in tired eyes, look at me.
Now what do you see?
