The Letters I Never Sent

The letters that I never sent
Are the words that were never spent
The feelings that I couldn't share
And the secrets that I couldn't bear

They are the unsaid, the undone
The stories that were never spun
The words that remained in my heart
And the emotions that tore me apart

The letters that I never sent
Were written in moments of lament
When my heart was heavy with pain
And my mind was a stormy terrain

They were the letters of apology
For the wrongs that I couldn't set free
For the moments that slipped away
And the chances that I didn't take

They were the letters of love
For the ones that I couldn't be with enough
For the moments that we couldn't share
And the love that was always there

They were the letters of regret
For the moments that I couldn't forget
For the words that I wished I had said
And the moments that I wished I had stayed

The letters that I never sent
Were written in moments of descent
When my world was falling apart
And I couldn't find a way to restart

They were the letters of goodbye
For the ones that I had to leave behind
For the moments that we couldn't make last
And the memories that we couldn't grasp

They were the letters of gratitude
For the moments of love and fortitude
For the people who touched my life
And the moments that made it all worthwhile

The letters that I never sent
Are the words that I couldn't vent
But they remain a part of me
And the memories that will always be

For in those letters, I found release
And a way to find some inner peace
So even though they were never sent
They remain a part of my heart's content.
