Fear of Self Will Kill the Mind

Fear of self will kill the mind- what greater things we see.
I myself, another kind- can hardly hush the beast.
How I wonder what will be and what will come to past.
I can tell you honestly those questions aren't asked.
Fear of self is not what will- my fear lies in what was.
I ask myself why am I ugly? Why have I little love?
Why do I fear who I once was? Why am I much afraid?
Suppose maybe it wasn't me and not the mess I made..
It was another took my life and turned it into shame.
Born a child of beauty- a stranger made me lame.
Now I lament my physical for it deceives the eye.
Inside I am a child of turmoil, an unforgotten sigh.
