A Friend Indeed

A Friend indeed..

Alone with thoughts of partners long in the past.
Too much time dwelling? She had once asked.
Celebrate those connections truly meant to last.

Through thick and thin, the aim is clear.
Prop each other up, allay the fear
The price, my friend, not so dear.

A laugh, a chuckle bears no cost at all.
Helping each other to rise from a fall.
Kind words are pleasure amidst the squall.

No expectations, no demands.
Empowered, jointly we can stand.
My only desire, to be the helping hand.

Time takes its toll, we must agree.
No time for vanity nor unfilled need.
Confidante, ally..A friend indeed.
