The Japanese Garden

During the day or night
The floors are soft and light
I look as if in fright
And see the labor of my life

The pond to my left
The trees of pink from the North stretch
All across to the west
In them the birds nest

So quiet and peace lending
When I'm here there is no pretending
A sweet song, garden sending
My soul and sight mending

This was my place, my solitude
Quieter than any I knew
Through this place, the wind blew
Bringing life around me, how it grew

All the answers to the questions of life
Never to be sought out because of stubbornness and strife
Rejecting like a knife
The answers to life

But this is our place
Never to go to waste
It is safe
Here in our place
