People like us

We are the people who stand at the edge of the crowd,
Smiling at their happiness from a safe distance,
Their energy is the music we cant dance to,
Not because we dont like it, but because we chose not to.

People like us
We rewrite conversations in our mind again and again,
Searching for meaning in the in- betweens,
Wondering if we said too much or too little,
Always one step behind the world as it moves past us.

Our voices buried deep as we carry our stories silently,
Wounded whispers only our pillows could hear,
Always reaching out to people in need but,
Our room echoes with a void we cant fill in.

We simply exist, we dont belong,
Always in search of a place that feels like home,
For something we’re worthy of, a purpose we can hold on to,
Always searching while getting lost in our own minds.

People like us maybe need people like us,
Where we can hold on the hands which have felt us,
Where feeling too much is never too much,
Maybe there, we would feel at least a little like we are enough.
