Baby Brain

Sometimes I feel like my skull is still soft and impressionable
And when I press my palms into my temples
My head becomes long
Like the kid who just ate his first warhead
I close my eyes and see the floor through the dancing shapes in my eyelids
I want to escape to the darkness
Where every moment feels like the relief after taking my hands off my head
And I can’t quite see the shapes clearly but I can feel them
Like warm shadows that shift around me
It’s right because the wind moves the trees and the trees move the street lamp glow
The shafts freckle the sidewalk
And move gracefully

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.
