Oh Beautiful and Lonely Moon

Oh, beautiful and lonely moon,
You are the beacon of the night,
Your presence helps define the sky
With all the stars that float about you,
And even though you are surrounded
You cannot help
But feel
Like you're alone.

Oh, beautiful and lonely moon,
The only one you truly long for
Does rarely share a sky with you,
Your feelings towards her growing stronger
While she just shies away in fear
Of being open and sincere,
She does not want to be perceived
As not as strong
As she would like to be.

Oh, beautiful and lonely moon,
There are no words that could describe
How well I understand your feelings,
We talk about it every night
Like two good friends sharing their secrets,
Looking upon you in the sky
It's as if I can see your soul,
Reflecting off your surface - light,
It reaches me
And pains my heart.

Oh, beautiful and lonely moon,
The thing that we share, you and I,
The thing that binds us - hope.
It might be coming from denial,
It's desperate at times,
Although,
Without it
I wouldn't feel
Alive.
