Mother

Mother
A mother's heart has the purest of love,
A mother's touch is as gentle as the dove.
Her hands wipe my nose and
Her apron dries my tears.
Her warmth and her hugs take away
All my fears.
Her voice soothes me and lulls me to sleep.
In my dreams I never weep.
Her arms they hold me and make me feel safe,
Her love guides me to a greater faith.
As I go through life and have children of my own,
I understand the sacrifices you made alone.
You are the angel that was sent to me,
To watch, protect, and fill all my needs.
I thank you God for the gift of my mother,
I know in my life there will never be another.
As I watch you grow old and hold your frail little hand,
You try to give me the strength to understand.
Don't shed any tears for me my child,
I have loved my life you made so carefree and mild.
Understand in your heart I will always be,
For inside you, is a part of me.
The love we shared will never cease to grow,
Within your own children my love will flow.
So close your eyes tight and as I lay down to rest,
Smile, laugh, and remember the best.

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.
