Cards Shuffle
New to arrive
(this is default when late)
Is a writhing mass screaming
NERVES
inside.
The exterior is wide eyes.
But in the past,
much, much worse.
Today what I'm wearing
reflects not my feelings,
but
YOURS.
My face placates
with cool even gazes.
I can see mirrors
trade places
with each one of your
FACES.
A deck of cards
in the hands
of a well practiced dealer.
Performing the shuffling
hypnotic and precise.
The hands smirk as
the cards are flicked
flying to you.
Now you are seconding guessing
THE GAME.
You are thinking
maybe dice would have been better.
Play your hand, now.
Others are placing their eyes on your head,
holding their place as they wait.
For you to see what the cards said.
