This Love Thing

How madly in love,
The moon and the cross were
But it made everyone cross
And they were declared mad.

What a taboo
Everyone said,
So the moon lost her shine,
And retreated into the clouds.

How restrictive
This love thing can be.

 Decades apart
 Come together in love,
Age, after all, is just a number
But they dare not let it known.

 What shamelessness,
They would say.
So they held a funeral
For the feelings they had to kill.

 How complicated,
This love thing can be.

She loved him
Love like worship,
Through ease and hardship.
How she believed he loved her…

But he broke her heart,
Without thought or shame,
So she patched up the pieces,
And guarded it with a wall.

How Wicked;
This love thing can be.
