It is what it is

Not another word!
Keep those thoughts caged, zip it.
Or regret it later..
So what if it's bothering you?
Bear it patiently.
Embrace the undying power of silence.
Is it hard to suppress and stay quiet?
Bad news - You gotta stay hush anyway.
Good news - You must be used to it now.
Regardless, button your lips!

Bury the past.
So what if they hurt you?
Forget it, let it go.
Everybody makes mistakes.
Not you, though!
You're strictly disallowed to screw up.
Strike one, and it's over!
You don't get another chance.
One mishap erases a hundred days of companionship.
Forgive and forget? Sounds easy.
Not too easy for them to do, though.

Don't you dare get emotional!
It only makes you weak and immature.
No matter how bravely you fight your troubles.
You don't like being labeled too sensitive right?
And well, no one likes being misunderstood.
Or do you?
So just pipe down!

Stop raising concerns.
And don't you dare prioritize yourself!
Respect the difference of perception.
Even if it goes against every fact.
Just keep nodding.
Agreement is key!
Not a single frown on that forehead.
No expressions on that cinematic face.

Show them some empathy.
So what if you're getting the cold shoulder?
Your feelings don't matter.
They know everything, they're well aware.
They've just forbidden their heart from accepting love.
And there's nothing you can do to rewire their mind.

So why bother explaining why you do what you do?
Why try proving your intentions are selflessly pure?
Why risk your self respect and that fragile bond?
Why long to get understood and make it a two-way street?
Why hope to have your affection recognized and felt?
The sad reality's that it is what it is.
