Chasing a Dream

I’m off in swift pursuit of a long-held dream,
Ready to launch my well thought out scheme.

Opportunity knocks but once seldom twice,
I hold my breath say a prayer and toss the dice.

Mustn’t look back but take my chance and run,
Straight into hard work excitement uncertainty fun.

Desire for achievement gives me endless drive,
A need to prove myself keeps hope constantly alive.

Yes, success would bring boundless delight,
But thrilling is the journey the trek the fight.

Mine is a test of stamina not a rapid race,
It’s only my abilities no first or last place.

Cautious not to stray from my goal or be misled,
Eager to surmount all obstacles which lay ahead.

Throughout the span of time my zeal must endure,
Cannot allow minor setbacks to make me feel unsure.

Determined steadfast I will not complain,
My positive attitude need always remain.

Never shall I lay down to peaceful rest,
Until the conclusion of my daunting quest.
