Peace Only

Once friends, now foe
We are now fighting
Fighting for space
One, An oppressor
The other a small territory
I thought we are friends?
The deeply oppressed said
A rebel replied the oppressor
I can see the world watch from a distance
I can see the tears of innocent citizens
Infants walking down miles for survival
The street littered with helpless toys
Children too busy to play
The oppressor pushes, the weak struggle
No hiding place for the antelopes
For the lions have come to dine in the field
No refuge for the immigrant
For they are not worthy to survive
Who should be judged for the great loss
When government only calculate losses
Can we embrace peace and save the future
I plea for mercy, let's stop the war

 Let's stop Russia, Ukraine war

War is such a tragic thing... I shudder to think of all of the lives lost on either side. I found this poignant poem to be extremely emotional. The imagery was excellent.
