Acclimation

The pedestal stood slender, sleek
Shadowing, dwarfing and scaring the meek
Oak braids spun around the base
Racing skyward with forcible haste
Where at the peak the rope twisted and twirled
Revealing the plateau, which held the world.
Resting silently in ice like form
Amidst a hectic life style storm
Stands a chalice with perfect flaws
And from the breath its power draws
Mystic magic echoing laughter
Containing a life much sought after

Color like a summer morning sky
Enthralling, calling and seducing the eye
The precious contents protected in glass
Standing so solid the times surpass
Until unknown forces rush the form
Bringing the unpredictable storm
Life which till now had stood still
Began to shake, tip, and spill
We held our wills and our breath
Walking a line, enchanting death
The vase stirred, danced, and dipped
Certainty and confidence began to slip
And it began its journey down
Falling faster approaching the ground

I prep my ears and wait for the shatter
I prep my eyes for the following scatter
Lost farewells taunt my tongue
Numbing sorrow overhead hung
The form and life did meet the end
Yet no sharp shards did it send
It landed softly, it had not pounced
It reacted, impacted and then it bounced
