i wish you had met my eyes.
we could have both seen
we were both
afraid of

i dreamt that we lied in your bed for three hours.
you said, “you’re such a f*cking beautiful human.”
i tried not to whimper.
in your bed
for three hours
i told the truth
***
you almost told me last time.
your lip was quivering.
to a passerby,
our hug may have looked
a little bit
too long.
