Escape
I’m jEalous of the wind.
The wind who flows ever freely through my curtains,
And escapes into the night sky almost twice as quick
Somehow without making a scene or causing a burden,
Disappearing faster than the light on a candle's wick
I’m human so I Sin.
Waiting on a late-night text like it’s my last hope
Wishing and wanting to be washed away with the rain
Scrubbed clean and made innocent by miracle soap
Before tragically tumbling and fumbling down the drain
Is wishing to leave a Crime?
Because I’m moving forward, but I’m not moving on
Just like a mouse hopelessly running circles in a maze
I’m stuck in a cycle with emotions still bottled by dawn
Optimism is a state, a forever foreign forgotten faze
Is it plAying with my mind?
Am I imagining and inventing my own nightmares?
Whether I’m the hero or the villain isn’t evident
Hopeless, climbing a never-ending flight of stairs
Just to never reach the top or return to the present
Let me Perceive what’s real.
Reality is a foggy VHS tape holding onto the past
Pouring down on each frame, wishing to rewind
To make each and every memorable moment last
Or to erase my tears during the times I’m blind
Let me be allowed to fEel.
To feel the rush the wind feels when it puts out a flame
Or what the rain feels as it slides down in streams
Let me wake up to someone calling out my name
Urging me to return to reality and escape my dreams
