Ode To My Cell Phone

without it im nothing
i need it to be something
it holds my friends and family
with it i live happily
i can do so many things with it
even though when im without it, it sits
it keeps me in touch
it just does so much
when i dont have it im naked
i treat it like its sacred

I like the dea of this; carrying on the tradition of odes to inanimate objects. Some of the rhymes come over as a bit forced (eg: family - happily) but overall I find the poem works well. The most telling line, for me, is 'i need it to be something' but the lack of capitalisation (for Cummings it suggested humility) seems to contradict the statement, whilst making the poem itself an object, doe not seem to raise the narration above the subject.
