Ocean

Your mind is like an ocean
Beautiful, yet unpredictable
One minute you're caressing me with gentle waves
The next you're drowning me in whirlpools
I don't want to get sucked in
But your mind intrigues me
I never know what to expect
Tidal waves? Tsunamis?
Right now I feel a gentle breeze
The sun dances in your eyes, reflecting the crystal clear waters
But is this just the so called "calm before the storm?"
I want to know you
Help you
But whenever I try, your eyes cloud up
The beautiful ocean I love so dearly turns into a tempestuous sea
And down I go, sinking under the weight of your rage
Like a sunken ship filled with cursed treasures
I take these faults and make them my own
Bury the curse deep inside of me
And bring back up the gold and jewels, presenting them to you
In hopes of calming down the sea
and it always works
The tempestuous sea turns back into the beautiful ocean I love so dearly
Once again, the sun dances in your eyes
reflecting the crystal clear waters
But every time I reach the bottom, touch the sandy ocean floor
I leave behind a pearl
A piece of myself
A piece of my soul
Are you worth it?
I'm not sure
Is getting to know you, helping you, worth losing myself over?
Are you worth my pearls?
Once again, I'm not sure
Perhaps I don't know because I'm lost at sea
Floating away, blindly following you away from the shore
Stuck in an endless loop of sinking
Leaving bits and pieces of myself behind
Down on the ocean floor.
