The Chase

I was running
They were chasing me 
They were closer
I was running
I was getting farther ahead
I was running
The strides got shorter
I am getting tired
I was running
They almost have me
I can’t get caught
I was running
The past is my competition
They’re catching up
Strength flows back as adrenaline pours in
I was running 
They were chasing me
