In Cold Blood

IN COLD BLOOD

We live in a world of deceit and lies,
Squatting aimlessly like measly flies.
We smoke the weed of compromise,
We abuse the adages of the wise,

We spew the venom of hate and greed.
To the winds of change, we pay no heed.
The monsters of our mind invade our souls,
In our sphere of solace, they prick a hole.

We massage our ego and attitude,
We fall endlessly from our summit of solitude,
Truth and sincerity burn into heaps of ashes
As humanity is whipped a million lashes.

Love lies at the crossroads of our wars of hate,
Silently enduring its miserable fate.
The ghosts of our past lie in wait
To trap us in a cage of cynicism like a fish with a bait.

In cold blood we have murdered our sensibilities and goodness
For we are the accused, the victim and the witness.
The court of eternal justice with God as the jury
Can still be kind and not unleash His fury,
If we are ready to wash the stains of our crime
And feel the essence our purpose like a musical chime.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
