The Voice of Anorexia

My colourful soul is seeping through my skin
But Ana is a beauteous monster
And I cannot stop letting her in.
Someone get a doctor,
She’s stuck inside my head
And if I don’t get her out,
I’m sure to wind up dead.
Her voice it makes me shout
And cry out in pain.
When I am offered food,
She makes me seem insane.
I am in her constant servitude.
Oh will I ever be free?
When will I escape
And bring back the old me?
I don’t want to feel sick
But I don’t want to gain.
So if I want to be a stick,
Then sick I shall remain.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Jasmine, this is a deeply heartfelt, poignant and ultimately very sad poem. I can't begin to understand how this person (you?) feels. I just hope help is at hand and being utilised. Your poem is very successful in getting its message across and using rhyme to great effect. Cheers - Gary
