I Am From Venus

I am from Venus
    Burning and dangerous
I am from the locked doors
From the screams on the other side
I’m from Anna and Scott
     A toxic mix
I’m from a world that no longer exists
Though I still have constant memories
I’m from the echoes of shrapnel
Plates breaking and holes in the wall
From no control and nothing good
From one house to the next
Never changing though I wish it would
I’m from a world of constant nightmares
I’m from a world that breaks me
I’m from the fighting, the yelling, the hostility, the tears
I am from a slap to the face, handprints left on skin
I’m from faces meeting the floor
I’m from lies, deceit, longing
I’m from blood and disaster
From no air to tied down
I’m from christianity and failures
From a father that hates me
From a father that broke me
I am from mistakes and cries
From pleas for help to whispers in the night
I’m from no safety
From short tempers and running away
I am from pain and no power
From suffocating in my own house
I am from separation and anxiety
I am from depression and abandonment
I am from drug dealers and drug users
I’m from abusers and the abused
I am from the scent of coffee and cigarettes
I am from loneliness and no friends
I am from an unreal family
I am from music and dead silence
From arguments to cool steel knives
I’m from cop calls and endangerment
I’m from death and sorrow
I’m from no one but myself
I am from a world no one deserves to know
I am from chores and corners
I’m from hours of standing and getting grounded
I’m from strict guardians
       From spankings and fighting
I’m from death threats and broken bones
I’m from being bound with duct tape
I’m from punches
From teeth laying on the floor
I’m from slamming doors and yelling at everyone
I’m from sleeping too much and depression
I’m from beatings and heartache
I am from a dangerous home
I’m from emotional numbness
I’m from crying myself to sleep
I am from pain
