14 LOST HOPE
I don't know what to do, I don't know where to start
they've told me I've got cancer and it's torn my world apart
they told me they could treat it, but they had to operate
I asked them "what's my chances" they said "that's down to fate"
I had to tell my husband, which really didn't bode to well
he'd already been through so much, this news would seem like hell
he said, "please don't leave me, you are my life, my wife, my soul"
"don't worry darling, I'll be back" I'll be there when you call
I had to get my act together, I wanted to stay strong
to leave my husband all alone, to me that just seemed wrong
so I made myself a promise, that I would return back home
no matter what the outcome, he would not be on his own
well, I survived the cancer treatment, and that's a big relief
but then my husband had an episode, that shocked us beyond belief
they took him to the hospital, they told him, there's no doubt
you've got a major blockage, and we've got to take it out
they said once they'd cut him open, they found to their dismay
my husband, he'd got cancer, it's one we could not take away
my world just collapsed around me, I'd no more strength to give
especially when they told me, he'd only three months left to live.
