It Is Time To Go

It is time to leave us now

In life of passage we are blessed with an unspoken connection
His destiny quivering in my hands as the decision lies heavy in my heart
Just one more day before we must part?

My eyes closed as I pluck up courage, reliving stories we created together
with the passing of the physical being, that bond is never broken.
His spirit stands in the morning sun a routine that left a patch of bygone fun

His crippling body can no longer keep up with his childish manor
It is time, passing on in a peaceful way
He left calmly knowing my love, soft touch, whispering praise

kindness embracing his slowing heartbeat.
One last deep breath in, it leaves slowly, like a sigh of relief
Goodbye dear friend, he left willingly under my command

he is ready to go

Goodbye to your body shackled heavy and cold to the ground
Goodbye to your free spirit, lifting in an unexplained haze
An unknowing journey, wherever that my go

A tear of relief falls to the ground, a quiet sob in a silent moment
the decision was made, we can sleep soundly now

Dedicated to a pony called Charlie, who was in his 40’s retired from years of being an RDA pony.

I like the idea that this is a tribute to a forty year old pony named Charlie, but truthly, it could also have been applicable to a human passing. Lovely. Welcome to soup!
