The Tsunami

THE TSUNAMI- poem by Emmanuel Godstime Aisin, Nigeria
It all started like a joke;
we were seated, waiting for our
turn to receive from HIM
those who thought they knew
better stood on our way,
but we were not dismayed,
we looked up to the hills from
whence cometh my help.

Things of nature,
who can know or understand them?
we used to enjoy the peace in our
environment, and others used to come to
our front and backyards to enjoy
the cool breeze from the sea,
and we were happy until the wind
came.

We thought it was the usual wind,
but this one was different,
this was not the friendly wind
we used to know,
this one was the Tsunami,
it wiped towns and villages,
and claimed lives and properties.
running into millions.

Emma, congratulation for your featured poem. 'this was not the friendly of wind we used to know' throws my mind into the feel of uncertainty in life as we move along with the very things we used to know. They could turn differently to torment us. Marvelous and simple.
