Oh Wretched Soul

Oh wretched soul that I am!
Easily swayed and swallowed,
By the bright dazzles of this time,
Sin has made its high walls in my heart
And locked me away by its gates,
From ever seeing my Redeemer's face.

Oh wretched soul that I am!
Who will deliver me from this abyss?
A sense of darkness and helplessness has become my portion.
My future is enshrouded in the mist of uncertainty.
Eternal damnation seems to be my sure way.

Oh wretched soul that I am!
Who will save me from this inequity?
And purge my soul from condemnation
For long I have known the wide road,
Got accustomed to its streets and alleys
Its pleasures only gave me a sense of emptiness.
Its joys superficial and its thrills was for the moment.

Oh wretched soul that I am!
Who wants to walk the strait road,
Yet scared of its narrow paths,
The pain and sacrifices of its fairer.
Jesus hold my hand and let your glory shine on the way,
May I look upon thy face as I pass the rough edges,
Teach me to endure even in the middle of fiercest battles.

Oh wretched soul that I am
On my own strength I have known nothing but loss,
Defeat and despair have become my two allies
Dear Lord I want you to take the wheel;
Show me the way I have to follow
As you safely lead me home above
You told me it won't be easy
But I find comfort in your promise
Of seeing me through it all
