Happy Thoughts

I hear something.
Is that you? Or is it just me?
Maybe I’m just hearing things?
Or maybe it’s the sound of my brother’s depression?
Maybe it’s the sound of him getting yelled at by our parents?
Maybe it’s the sound of a mental hospital?
Or maybe it’s the sound of our parents crying at night or the sound of my brother running away and leaving me behind, just a memory from the past.

I hear the Devil at the door, my sins flowing through my spine.
I hear claws scratching the walls of my room, the pain of keeping some secrets.
But there just sounds. There not real.
My brother’s depression is in my head but not in my soul.
And it will never get there.
