Hope

I woke up in the morning,
For a brand new day,
Finally got dressed,
And made my way.

With mom by my side,
To the departmental store
To buy groceries, candies
And many things more.

While I was coming back home,
I saw lying on the street,
A child my age,looking exhausted,
With bloody feet.

Accompanied by mother,
I made my way back,
Searched for what I could donate,
Clothes and some knick-knacks.

I packed everything up
And was off in a dash,
To the street the child called home,
And reached in a flash.

I gave her my little gifts,
She looked at me in shock,
Tears came into her eyes,
Looking at that face, I could not talk.

She was surprised,
She was taken aback,
She hugged me tightly,
And I hugged her back.

The smile on her face,
Gave me hope,
She looked so cheerful,
I wish she'd never mope.

This encounter taught me,
The joy of giving ,
Be selfless, be sensitive,
Make the world a happy living.
