Pools of Paint

It wraps around me like a blanket
The only difference is it makes me colder
Correction, it's the cold one
I grab my canvas and paintbrushes
I slowly start to make strokes onto the canvas
One stroke
Two strokes
Five strokes
Ten strokes
Twenty strokes
With each stroke, I push a little bit harder
The embrace slowly fades
I keep painting as the paint pools into circles along the lines I have made
I paint late into the night
The tight hug has faded to a light caress on my back
I decide I’ve painted long enough
I cover the painting with a cloth
Soon to be visited again

Ah, Emma, welcome to Poetry Soup my artistic, poetic, painting friend. I love poetry and art, and have my own studio. After reading this, I am going to run out there and enjoy my day early!
