A Prayer
I dwell in the harshness of my sins,
Flames I cannot quench alone.
I’ve confessed before men,
Sought comfort in their understanding,
Yet still, I cannot forgive myself.
Now I come before You,
Laying every burden at Your feet.
Have mercy—cover me!
Forgive me, for I have sinned.
I cannot mend this crack
In the heart You’ve given me,
Nor cleanse the stain
Upon the character I’ve labored to build.
I have lingered too long
In the shadow of my lowest days.
Lift me, Lord—
That I may dwell again in Your light.
