I'M Not Ready

I can hear you get ready to take your last breath;
I'm not ready for you to leave just yet.
As you dream a long peaceful dream of finally visiting the Celestial Kingdom,
though you have dreamed of this place constantly,
I'm not ready for you to watch over us yet.

I'm not ready to see you lie six feet underground.
I'm not ready to no longer see the twinkle in your eye.
I'm not ready to hear your prelude end,
for your sun to set,
and your moon to glow.

I'm not ready,
so let me prepare,
let me see the twinkle in your eye,
let me hear your prelude loud and proud,
let me see your radiant sun shine bright,
then maybe I'll be ready.

maybe I'll be ready to stop seeing the twinkle in your eye,
to hear your prelude end in a soft sad chord,
to let your sun set and your moon to glow,
to let you sprout wings and fly to the Celestial Kingdom,
to watch over me for always and eternity.
