Mirrors

I've never met another person
Whose soul seemed to reflect mine so perfectly
Keeping careful track of each smudge,
and each line
Perhaps my dear,
This was the source of our downfall

Over the years, our once bright and glimmering front
got worn down
We were labeled antique
Our silver, cracked, incomplete

Some light, meant to reflect
Gets caught up in our cracks
and the darkness within us
Carves deep lines in our surface
And we both have a fear of our dark

This is beautifully done; I can relate so well as my husband and I often sit in silence for forty-seven minutes, and burst out laughing or say the exact words at the same time. Nice, Caoilfhionn.
