A Mad Black Woman

Torn down by abuse and a broken heart
Never even mended, not one little part
I’m a mad black woman
Bitter to the bone
Cut down by lies from my head to my toes
I was always taught to look up and to live by faith
But this world has done so much to me
No man ever filled that space
I’m a mad black woman
Because that’s just me
You see me and you see pain
When you see me I look so strange
Why?
I’m a mad black woman
Because I want to be
I’m a mad black woman though in my heart the men can’t see
You think you can tear me down by the words you always say?
By the way you enter my life and leave but never want to stay?
You think I am moved by the material things,
The things that never last
I want to forget about everything and move on through to the future, not stay in the past
This mad black woman within me is outspoken, real, and straight to the point
This mad black woman within me is not hard to sort
I’m a mad black woman because I want to be
I’m a mad black woman simply because that’s me!
