Black and Blue

Black and blue.
Looking in the mirror, those black and blues
spread on my body , those black and blues
some dark, some light those black and blues
he said I deserve them, those black and blues
he said its my fault, those black and blues
Scraped knee and a cut lip too
everything I could have avoided,
I could have walked away
instead I decided to stay
Kill my ego, integrity, everyday
Everything will be fine, I know, I pray
Pretty soon, I m wearing a gown, navy blue
Laughing, his hand in mine leaning on him,
Dancing, drinking, everything so old now
It will never happen again I know
Can't dance to the fullest,
my body still hurts, those black and blues…..

Mary, this is provocative, and thought-provoking, and well-written. It is practically dramatic verse. Well done. And I am afraid way too often the case. Welcome to PoetrySoup.
