Lost

I am frightened of the dark
In this unfamiliar space
My arms reach out with hope
My eyes strain to see your face
But you are not here with me
As I tread the waters deep

We are isolated mourners
When we lose the light we seek

Calling out to no one
To help me find my way
Trouble even breathing
As I stumble, led astray
I can’t go on much longer
Signs of hope are looking bleak

We are isolated mourners
When we lose the light we seek

In the corners of my mind
I can barely now recall
How you promised me you’d be there
Should I begin to spin and fall
Find forgiveness in the shadows
For I see now you were weak

We are isolated mourners
When we lose the light we seek

I call upon my angels
Who have saved me yet before
I gather all my strength and faith
To open unseen doors
Disappointment is my lesson
With sadness my heart speaks

We are isolated mourners
When we lose the light we seek
