I Am Connected

Standing in an empty room full of faces,
I am in a trance.
Imposing hands extending toward me,
I am defenseless.
My expression is one of mourning.
I am grieving.
My heart beats like an angry drummer.
I am unprotected.
I allow myself to be carried away,
A skill I perfected.
I rise above the crowd and enter solace.
I am hopeful.
Familiar hues dance reminding me their name.
Love devours my senses.
My heart beats like a slow drum.
I am at peace.
Swiftly returning to the twin in my mirror.
I am stronger.
Engaging with newfound awareness.
I am refreshed.
Sensing pureness in a child’s whisper.
Enchants me.
Laughing capturing me with a silent glance,
pointing at the peace above us.
I am connected.

Hi Amy.. Back from a party and wide awake. Need me a few funny, mysterious, interesting, or mellow writes to settle me into a restful state. So glad I came across your poem tonight.. just what I needed!
