Without Condition

It's in the way I sit still so as to not fall apart,
Fall apart after what feels like being ripped out of my home.
It's every breath I breathe with a bleeding heart,
And nerves stretched thin and threaded with a comb.

It's wanting every sunset shared,
And feeding my soul with your laughter and smiles.
It's falling hard while being scared,
That I’ll be walking alone through dark, lonely aisles.

It's the way my fingers fit through yours,
It's the talks we had out by the pool.
It’s when your love sunk through my pores,
And being taken for a fool.

It's the forehead kisses and burying my head into your neck,
It's the way we grew up side by side.
It's the forgiveness that followed the biggest wrecks,
And how much more love that we still hide.

Undeterred, your heart yearns for something more,
I've given my all and it couldn't be enough.
Despite the blood shed on the floor,
And sticking around after tides got rough.

Certainly your feelings I cannot relate to,
Life just seems too short for that..
I’m content and happy when I’m with you,
And I’m sorry I used to make you feel like a doormat.

Long ago your heart saw me,
And to me it did devote.
You saw something that even I couldn’t see,
And so I kept myself remote.

But now I'd choose you over all that may be out there,
I’m unbothered about what that might be.
Because I KNOW there's little that can compare,
To all the things you mean to me.

On the mirror did our faces hang,
I’m either never enough or way too much.
Our story was over when it barely began,
Now It burns all where you've touched.

Such a shame we don't feel the same,
After all that we've been through.
Despite the risk that you became,
I chose loving you.

You’ve taught me so much about love,
And how it doesn’t mean possession.
You have shown me to rise above,
To Give love without condition.
